Maos Chittim Campaign

Dear Chaverim,

As we get into the hustle and bustle of Pesach preparations, we must not forget to participate in the

great Mitzvah of Maos Chittim. The very first Halacha that the Rema in Shulchan Oruch Hilchos Pesach

records, is the custom of performing acts of charity at this time of year.

During the past few years we have dedicated our Maos Chittim campaigns for the benefit of our

brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisrael who live constantly under the shadow of a potential attack, Chalilah, from

terrorists.  We assisted victims of terror and the Hospitals & Emergency Rescue Organizations who are active

in attending to Achenu Kol Bais Yisrael at this very crucial time.  We also came to the assistance of Mosdos

HaTorah in Eretz Yisrael when the Israeli Government severely reduced their funding for their operating

budgets, assisted youngsters who desperately wanted to attend Yeshivos, provided for individuals and families

dealing with a health crisis and assisted large families struggling to provide necessities for Yom Tov.  Recently

we provided for 2 large families that R”L lost their fathers and main breadwinners in the prime of their lives.

This year, we are dedicating our Maos Chittim Appeal to assist several local families and

several families located in Eretz Yisrael, all known to me personally, who are in dire financial straits

due to the economic crises which still linger for many.  Your participation will allow these families to

celebrate Yom Tov properly during these trying times.

Please respond generously.  Checks should be made out to CONGREGATION OHR MOSHE - MAOS

CHITTIM.  In the Zchus of this Mitzvah may we all be Zoche to a Kosherin Pesach and "B'Nissan Asidim

L'Higa'el".

                                                             With Torah Greetings,

                                                                            Rabbi Asher Schechter
